Message us on WhatsApp

The International Advisory practice of R&A Asociados assists investors, companies, and corporate groups with operations or interests in Mexico and abroad. Our practice focuses on the design and implementation of cross-border legal and tax structures and on their ongoing compliance, with careful attention to the correct application of international treaties and to regulatory compliance in each of the jurisdictions involved.

If you plan to invest or set up in Mexico, expand your company into other jurisdictions, hire foreign personnel, or enter into transactions with counterparties abroad, we offer you a comprehensive view that brings together corporate, tax, and regulatory considerations. We coordinate with correspondent firms in other jurisdictions to validate the legal and tax effects of each decision, and we provide ongoing support to foreign investors in their operations in Mexico and Latin America.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about this practice area.

What requirements must a foreign company meet to establish itself in Mexico?

A company with foreign participation must be incorporated under Mexican law, file the corresponding notices with the National Registry of Foreign Investments (Registro Nacional de Inversiones Extranjeras, RNIE), and comply with periodic obligations before the Ministry of Economy and the SRE (Ministry of Foreign Affairs). It is also advisable to review whether its activity or location is subject to restricted-zone limitations. Each case has its own particularities; we invite you to schedule a consultation to review yours.

How do double taxation treaties work?

Double taxation treaties are agreements between Mexico and other countries that allocate the power to tax certain types of income, so that the same income is not taxed in full in both jurisdictions. Their application depends on tax residence, the type of income, and specific formal requirements. We would be pleased to analyze in a consultation whether a treaty applies to your transaction.

Can you help me bring foreign personnel to work in Mexico?

Yes. We advise companies on the relocation and hiring of foreign personnel, including the regularization of visas and work permits, immigration compliance, and the coordination of the tax and social security obligations arising from international mobility, both for the company and for the relocated individual. If your company plans to bring on team members from abroad, we invite you to schedule a consultation.

These answers are for guidance only; each case requires individual analysis.
