Administrative Law

Defense and compliance before federal, state, and municipal authorities

Message us on WhatsApp

The Administrative Law practice of R&A Asociados advises, represents, and defends individuals and legal entities against acts of authority issued by agencies and entities at all three levels of government. We handle everything from responding to a formal request or an inspection visit to challenging fines, closure orders, and revocations through administrative appeals and administrative litigation, with a procedural strategy defined from the first contact with the authorities.

We combine technical knowledge of sector-specific regulation with procedural strategy so that you or your company comply with applicable regulations and protect your rights before the authorities. This includes advice on licenses, permits, and registrations; handling of environmental, urban development, tourism, health, or commercial inspections; defense before PROFECO (Federal Consumer Protection Agency); and the design of internal protocols that reduce the risk of penalties before they arise.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about this practice area.

I have received an official letter, a summons, or an inspection visit from an authority. What should I do?

The most important thing is to respond within the stated deadline, since deadlines in administrative matters tend to be short and missing them may limit your defense. The firm reviews the document, identifies the authority and the type of proceeding involved, and prepares the corresponding response, evidence, and arguments. We suggest that you schedule a consultation and share the official letter so that we can advise you on the immediate next steps.

Can a fine or a closure order imposed by the municipality or the state be challenged?

As a general rule, yes. Acts of state and municipal authorities, such as fines, closure orders, or license revocations, may be challenged through administrative appeals before the issuing agency itself or through administrative litigation before the competent courts. The appropriate avenue depends on the type of act, the issuing authority, and the applicable deadlines. We will be glad to analyze your case in a consultation to define the most suitable strategy.

How does the firm help a company comply with PROFECO requirements?

We support companies in complying with the Ley Federal de Protección al Consumidor (Federal Consumer Protection Law, LFPC): we review standard-form (adhesion) contracts, terms and conditions, privacy policies, advertising, and promotions, and we represent the company in conciliation proceedings, arbitrations, and inspections before PROFECO. We also design internal protocols to reduce the risk of penalties. If you would like to review your business's situation, you may schedule a consultation with us.

These answers are for guidance only; each case requires individual analysis.
